Greedy people, Business problems, and Christians

Greedy people and Business problems can often be one and the same

For Christ-followers, greed is one of the biggest business problems.

It’s a subtle little poison that inches its way into us without us even knowing it.

  • Greed
  • Earthly ambitions
  • Desires for success that don’t honor God

You get the picture, right?

Business problems such as greed don’t have to sink the ship

Because as a follower of Christ you have the promised Holy Spirit as a help in overcoming those and many other things.

In this video (originally shared in my Christians in Business community) I chat briefly (2:40) about these issues, my comments being based in Philippians 3:18-19

For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.

I would love to interact with you about these things (in the comments below).

The problems we face in business really have to do with the heart more than they have to do with our business practices.

Chime in. I want to hear from you.

  1. Hey Carey – boy, you must be working with God on me today…read Psalm 101 and was contemplating my own tendency toward greed this morning. It’s caused me to work with people who sin and prioritize money above quality, etc. I’ve compromised in this to save money myself. It has brought nothing but pain/shame to my business. I’m duly convicted my friend:
1 I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
    in my own home.
3 I will refuse to look at
    anything vile and vulgar.
    I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
4 I will reject perverse ideas
and stay away from every evil.
5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors.
I will not endure conceit and pride.
6 I will search for faithful people
    to be my companions.
Only those who are above reproach
will be allowed to serve me.
7 I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house,
and liars will not stay in my presence.
8 My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked
and free the city of the Lord from their grip.

  2. Hi Carey,
It was good to see your face and hear your words of encouragement! We miss you guys.
Since I started my business in 2011, the last month has definitely been the hardest, thank you for what you do.

    Deana
